Our Mission

GEAR believes in a helping hand, but we cautiously avoid a handout in favor of a hand-up. 

That philosophy led us to begin the GEAR CARES program in 2020. Facing uncertainty brought on by a global pandemic, GEAR went back to its beginning with a simple question: what can we do to help the community that has done so much for us while ensuring a strong future for our GEAR team?

Our answer to that question gave birth to GEAR C.A.R.E.S.: Community Action through Recruitment, Employment, and Sustainment. Our CARES division provides second chances to those who are willing to work for it, building upon our hand-up philosophy. Through partnerships with local businesses and support services, we have managed to build a system that allows candidates and employees to turn their past mistakes into strength, hope, and courage for the future. 

Now, years later, our CARES division is continuing to provide countless job opportunities for people who are ready and willing to change their lives, regardless of the barriers they face. Process: IMPROVE

Identify

We begin by identifying the barriers that stand in the way of candidates attaining gainful employment, as well as the skills each candidate brings to the table. This allows us to make the best placements possible, ensuring that both our candidates and clients receive the maximum benefit from job placements.

Maintain

As we work to ensure that all barriers are properly assessed, we maintain constant contact with both candidates and the support/monitoring services they are utilizing.

Prepare

During the Prepare phase of our process, we inform candidates of the expectations, responsibilities, benefits, and other information relevant to their pending job placement.

Reconcile

We evaluate the characteristics of a good employee for the intended job placement and compare them to the characteristics of our candidates. This phase of our process ensures best fit for our candidates and clients.

Overcome

We implement the solutions that came up during the Identify phase of our process. Whether the identified barriers include lack of transportation, lack of access to necessary PPE, scheduling difficulties, or others, we have solutions.

Verify

We double and triple check to make sure our candidates and clients are prepared for a fruitful partnership.

Employ

Finally, we put the candidates to work and let them take charge of their second-chance opportunity.
